FRUSTRATION #1: THE COMMAND MELODY
LEGEND OF ZELDA WIND WAKER for the GameCube *spoilers*
Here we go, our first of many frustrations I’d like to address in this new blog series of mine. So lets cut the BS and dive right into this frustration!
Before we start, this is my favorite game of all time, like ever, so please don’t hate on me for hating on games. Thats not what I do. I nitpick the parts that we all hate. Like this part of the classic, Legend of Zelda, Wind Waker.
So, the Command Melody, pretty damn cool once you first get it in the Tower of the Gods. With its use, you were able to command the body of a being OTHER THAN LINK!! You get to move a funny looking statue around and have it slowly hobble here and there, while it moves at the whim of your godly mind powers. As a kid I spent hours with this just messing with the statues. The puzzles used for these commanded statues were a unique and fun challenge for this intricate dungeon. But then…disaster strikes.
The next two temples you go to involve endless puzzles in which you are constantly controlling Medli or Makar. This was cool at first, cause they can both fly and that shit’s awesome! But then…well…
Mirror room…
Seasoned players all know what that means. That damn Earth Temple mirror room. I had to get out my Wind Waker and play the same four fucking notes over, and over, and over, and over, and over and OVER!!! It took like 10 seconds each time I wanted to swap characters and position Medli’s mirror juuuust right to hit the light a certain way. That may not seem like much, but when you have to do that for EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU WANT TO SWITCH, it gets CRAZY ANNOYING!!! Imagine hearing the same four notes for 30 minutes straight. That’s basically what this is.
Marak is not spared this commanding shame. Sure, he’s kidnapped first thing and is out of our hair for half the temple where we can do whatever we damn well please. But once he’s needed, and you mess up flying with him, and have to use the fricking command melody you’re already sick of to swap back and forth until until you get this one puzzle right….well… you get the idea…
Its such an epic tune, but I’d love it way more if I didn’t have to use it every other god damn second in the other temples for puzzles that took more than half an hour not counting the other half our spent swapping characters and messing up!!! I’m sick of it!!!! Its not clever use of a song!!! It’s…It’s just…
FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!
